A few months ago…
Student: “Ma’am, what does CC mean?”
Me: “Don’t worry. By the end of this course, you’ll know exactly when to use CC.”
A few weeks later…
I sent an email.
Student: “Ma’am…”
Me: “Yes?”
Student: “You forgot to CC the manager.”
Me: “…I was just testing you.”
Student: “Of course you were.” 😄
And just like that…
My student became my unofficial email quality checker.
Honestly, it was one of my proudest (and slightly embarrassing) trainer moments.
At RuralShores Skills Academy, many learners walk in with little or no exposure to professional communication.
Their first emails often look something like this:
Hi Ma’am.
Pls check.
Thanks.
Terms like CC, BCC, Reply All, Loop me in, and Circle back sound like a completely different language.
But something amazing happens with practice.
The emails become clearer.
The conversations become more confident.
The hesitation disappears.
And every now and then…
The learner starts spotting the trainer’s slightest mistakes. 😅
That’s when you know the learning has gone full circle.
Because success isn’t when learners memorize workplace etiquette.
It’s when they use it so naturally that they confidently remind you.
(And yes… I remembered CC-ing the manager each time after that incident. 😄)
What’s one workplace skill you learned that completely changed the way you work?
